Position Overview:

The SEO Specialist will be responsible for helping optimize and execute an on-site and off-site SEO strategy to grow organic presence and brand awareness for TaxSlayer.com and TaxSlayerPro.com. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in SEO or a related field and a passion for analytics, research, and performance measurement.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Monitoring and reporting on organic performance
  • Auditing and optimizing content
  • Identifying areas of opportunity
  • Partnering with the appropriate stakeholders to grow the SEO channel

The SEO Specialist will work alongside the SEO manager to drive the overall SEO roadmap by analyzing organic performance, evaluating content and recommending on-page optimizations, and contributing to growing off-site efforts such as backlinking.

This role will work across IT, development, design, business intelligence, product, marketing, and customer service to unify our efforts to reach new users and retain existing users using SEO best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze website performance and rely on data-driven insights to inform organic strategy
  • Evaluate and improve current on-page design and content through the lens of SEO without compromising the user experience
  • Coordinate with content designers to optimize and create new content for our websites
  • Perform keyword research and provide technical briefs to content, visual, and UX designers as needed
  • Assist the content design team in developing a roadmap of content opportunities identified through research and analysis
  • Conduct competitive intelligence and communicate the findings to the necessary internal teams
  • Stay ahead of SEO industry trends while also keeping an ear to the ground for tax industry-specific news and opportunities

Skills and Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SEO research and analytics tools, such as Google Search Console, Semrush, Screaming Frog, and others
  • Experience working in modern project management tools, such as Asana
  • Strong quantitative research capabilities
  • Proven ability to create high-quality, high-performing content
  • Experience working in content management systems, such as WordPress
  • Excellent time management skills specific to being able to produce detailed, complex work that can be easily communicated
  • Proven ability to work independently while incorporating and addressing feedback from other team members
  • Ability to transform complex data into valuable and actionable insights
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivated to learn new skills and pursue professional development opportunities
  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar role
